Canine Anaplasma Detection PCR Test for Dogs

Canine Anaplasma Detection PCR is a molecular test that detects Anaplasma species (A. phagocytophilum, A. platys) DNA in dog blood. Anaplasmosis is a tick-transmitted bacterial disease affecting white blood cells (A. phagocytophilum) or platelets (A. platys). PCR is the most sensitive method for confirming active Anaplasma infection in dogs.

Types of Canine Anaplasmosis

• Anaplasma phagocytophilum: Infects neutrophils causing granulocytic anaplasmosis, transmitted by Ixodes ticks
• Anaplasma platys: Infects platelets causing cyclic thrombocytopenia, transmitted by Rhipicephalus ticks

Clinical Signs of Anaplasmosis in Dogs

• High fever and lethargy
• Loss of appetite and weight loss
• Joint pain and lameness
• Spontaneous bleeding (petechiae, ecchymosis)
• Pale mucous membranes
• Vomiting and diarrhoea

When Is the Anaplasma PCR Test Recommended?

• Dogs with fever and thrombocytopenia of unknown origin
• Tick-exposed dogs in Hyderabad or tick-endemic regions
• Dogs with suspected tick-borne disease
• Differentiating Anaplasma from Ehrlichia, Babesia, or Hepatozoon
• Post-treatment monitoring after doxycycline therapy
