Book a Fructosamine test for your diabetic dog or cat at home in Hyderabad. Reflects average blood glucose over 2–3 weeks — preferred for monitoring insulin therapy in cats.
Description
The Fructosamine test measures glycated serum proteins to reflect average blood glucose levels over the past 2–3 weeks in dogs and cats. It is one of the most valuable tools for diagnosing and monitoring diabetes mellitus in veterinary patients.
Fructosamine is a protein that binds strongly to glucose in the blood; higher glucose concentrations result in higher fructosamine levels. Unlike a single blood glucose reading, fructosamine is not affected by transient stress-induced hyperglycemia, which is especially important in cats — cats frequently experience sharp glucose spikes from the stress of a veterinary visit, making single glucose measurements unreliable. The fructosamine test provides a more accurate assessment of actual glycemic control over 2–3 weeks.
Fructosamine reference ranges for diabetic dogs and cats: Good glycemic control: 300–400 µmol/L; Fair control: 400–450 µmol/L; Poor control: above 450 µmol/L. Newly diagnosed diabetic pets have significantly higher fructosamine than non-diabetic animals. The test is used to monitor response to insulin therapy and adjust dosing accordingly.
At Home Petcare offers at-home Fructosamine testing for dogs and cats in Hyderabad. Our certified veterinary professionals collect a blood sample at your home — no fasting required — and results from a certified lab help guide diabetes management and insulin therapy adjustments.
